Taliban in Afghanistan

Jalalabad / News Agency

In Jalalabad, Afghanistan, locals overthrew the Taliban's power and removed their flags. Black, red and green flags were flown at that place. The Taliban, enraged by local protests, tried to disperse the crowd by firing indiscriminately.

The Taliban have already taken control of Jalalabad, the capital of Nangarhar province. Since then, Kabul has lost contact with the eastern part of Afghanistan. The Taliban are trying to pacify the people by intimidating them out of fear of a local insurgency. The Taliban released some videos on Sunday. It shows Taliban militants working in the governor's office in Jalalabad.

The Taliban seized control of Kabul on Sunday, just before US troops were due to leave the country. This has hampered the efforts of the United States and its allies to improve the situation in this war-torn country. The embassies of most countries, including the United States, India, and the European Union, are trying to get their people out safely.
